Last week DGP were delighted to take part in the Construction Youth Trust Year 12, Building Future Skills Programme.
Volunteers from DGP, Farzana Begum, Ruth Trant, Euan Campbell and Kevin Ford all took part in the three-day project. Funded by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation in North Kent teams took on the challenge of designing the Blue Lake Development inspired by the ethos of sustainability & healthy living.
DGP spoke about their job roles in the construction industry and gave students support in their projects, passing on their experience working in the real world.
DGP’s Ruth Trant was very impressed, saying, “Often an outdated perception of what construction is, can discourage young people from choosing construction as a career option. Organisations such as the Construction Youth Trust are important in raising awareness that Construction is an innovative industry with a range of specialist professions to choose from. It was great to be a part of the Building Future Skills Programme and see the students’ enthusiastic approach to projects that had sustainable thinking very much at the core.”
